YOUR OPT-IN LIST.

Building Your Business with an Opt-in List

Email marketing is one of the most effective marketing methods nowadays simply because virtually almost all people use email. Check on those email fields or blanks required to be filled up on various forms needed in processing different transactions. A person without an email address is tantamount to a person without an online home, which is one big important truth about this generation.

Make sure that your email marketing campaigns do not offend people.

The way to surmount this dilemma is through permission-based advertising. There's no harm in trying after you have gained their permission.

You must be very careful as to who to, and who not to email. Learn to know which group of people on your list would give you high ROI or return on investment.

The Real Deal with Building Opt-in Lists.
Building an opt-in list is not a piece of cake particularly for the uninitiated. Here is a rundown of tips on how to succeed in this kind of marketing endeavor.

The strategic Collection of Data

Know which information to ask for. What information will help you lower your expenses and make sales flourish. If you want information from your prospects, ask for it. Don’t be shy.

Ask for information regarding their full name and email addresses. That’s all you really need to make sales. I find it a big turn off when I am asked for my home and business address, plus my phone number, when I know for sure that they will never need to use this information.

Good Implementation

Various methods, often low-cost, abound to hasten and facilitate the building up of one's opt-in database.

Modern technology should be employed in making this aspect of your marketing a lot more manageable. Tracking your email marketing results can be left to your auto-responder. Make note of your high traffic groups of opt-ins. There is no need to over spend when building an opt-in list. Websites are an excellent tool for data collation and providing you with relevant info regarding your email offers. Use forms that solicit your visitor's email address and consent. A good auto-responder Will be capable of doing most of this work for you.

You may want to ask for signups for email services. Make your website more visible through these media. Offering free electronic newsletters and or rewards program can do well in making it easy to win the nod of your audiences, too.

Giveaway offers or entries on sweepstakes are great for opt-in to volunteer their contact details.

These tactics should be applied with adequate caution and should focus on earning the trust of your opt-in list instead of simply collating data for your sole benefit. Always make sure that the forms that you use and other methods that you employ will not necessitate too much fuss to subscribe. Make it easy for people to signup to your list. Don’t ask too many questions.

You can’t go wrong provided you use your own opt-in list and make sure that every time you mail your list, you provide somewhere on the letter, a link where they can easily ask to be taken off the list. (It’s the law.)

WHAT'S IN A HEADLINE?

W/C 495

HEADLINES

The trouble with advertising via the internet is that there is no body language involved. When you are talking to someone face to face your body language tells your prospect a lot about you as a person. A good salesman will sell himself before he starts to sell a product.

Where does that leave the internet salesperson? He/She cannot see the prospect. To the prospect you are just a stranger who wants to take up some of his/her valuable time to talk about something that they are probably not interested in. How are you going to attract their attention? You can’t go up to the prospect and introduce yourself. (You are invisible.) You must use your headline. Your advert must have a compelling headline. Something that will stop him in his tracks. Something that will make him take a closer look.

What makes a good headline, either on an email or on any other written advert? As a rule it is something that is of interest to that particular person. Something that gives a hint that it will be worth their while to inquire further..
Just suppose that you were advertising a website dealing with container gardening. You would most likely publish it in a gardening e-magazine with perhaps a readership of 10,000. We will assume that 5,000 never read the adverts anyway.

Leaving us with only 5,000 who will scan the ads out of curiosity. Amongst those 5,000, who we assume are interested in gardening. How many of them are interested in ‘container gardening’? These are the ones that we must attract. Our headline must be aimed directly at this minor proportion of the subscribers to the magazine. We are in what we call a ‘niche’ market’. The headline must be aimed directly at this niche. It must contain words that attract the attention of those ‘Container gardeners’

What I am attempting to show is that just because you publish your advert in a magazine with 10,000 subscribers. If your business is a niche within a much broader subject, Such as Container Gardening within the broader subject of Gardening in general. Your headline must be capable of attracting the attention of the smaller group of people that your advert is aimed at.

A better idea is to find ezines that deal exclusively with the niche that you want to promote. It is what we call ‘Targeted Marketing’. If you can do that, you can be sure that you have a very responsive audience who will be sure to at least read your advert. The more people who read it, the more chances you have of making sales.

It is a proven fact that an ad with a compelling headline with indifferent subject matter will perform better than one with an indifferent headline but superb text and graphics. The moral of the story is to practice writing headlines. For every advert write at least ten different headlines and pick the very best one for publication.
